Godavari (Kailali), Nov 28: A historical edifice known as Garbha Durbar, located at Khairala of Chure rural municipality-4 in Kailali district is in a state of neglect in lack of conservation. Constructed by Khadak Shumsher JB Rana in 1984 BS, the palace dating to the Rana period is in a dilapidated condition due to negligence of bodies concerned. Locals are worried after the palace with historical importance and having tourism potential started getting decrepit. The locals have urged the bodies concerned to pay special attention in conservation of the palace, but in vain, said a local Krishna Bahadur Malla. The walls of the palace with artefacts have started collapsing since 2055 BS. The three-storey palace sprawls on 10 ropains of land and has 83 windows and 53 doors, and a tunnel. It has reached in dilapidated condition due to the apathy of government bodies and political parties for its maintenance and conservation. Chairperson of Chure rural municipality, Chakra Bahadur Bogati, said the rural municipality has kept the Garbha palace as the historical tourism site and has been demanding budget with province and federal governments for its conservation. Province Assembly member and former Minister, Dirgha Sodari, shared that although Sudurpaschim province government had allocated six million rupees in fiscal year 2075/76 BS and five million rupees in fiscal year 2076/77 BS for the conservation of the palace, the budget was not implemented due to technical issues. ---
