SC hearing on writ against ex-PMs Nepal and Bhattarai over Baluwatar land case today
KATHMANDU: Supreme Court (SC) is hearing on the writ petition filed against former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Dr Baburam Bhattarai for their alleged involvement in Baluwatar land scam today.
Senor Advocate Bal Krisha Neupane had filed the writ against Nepal and Bhattarai at the apex court alleging the the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) of granting amnesty to them despite their role in transferring the Baluwatar land into their names.
A joint bench of Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shumsher Rana and Justice Nahakul Subedi are hearing on the writ today.
This writ had been postponed for time and again on various pretexts.
The CIAA had filed cases against many individuals at the Special Court for their involvement in the Baluwatar land scam.
The anti-grant body has been under fire for its alleged role in granting amnesty to Nepal and Bhattarai despite their involvement in government land case.
